Wearing fragrance to a Pakistani office in June is a genuinely different problem from wearing it in a temperate climate. Heat amplifies projection, humidity changes how notes develop, and a scent that reads as pleasant at 22 degrees can become overpowering at 42.

The rules that actually matter

Go fresh, not sweet

Heat amplifies sweet, ambery and gourmand notes dramatically. A vanilla-heavy fragrance that is comfortable in December becomes cloying in a hot room. Citrus, aquatic, green and light woody profiles handle heat far better.

Reduce your sprays

Whatever you wear in winter, use less of it in summer. Two sprays in July will project like four in January. In a shared office this is the difference between being noticed and being remembered for the wrong reason.

Apply to skin, and after moisturiser

Fragrance clings better to hydrated skin. In dry Lahore or Multan heat, applying to bare skin means it evaporates faster.

Karachi and Lahore are different problems

Karachi's coastal humidity holds scent in the air around you, so projection lingers. Lahore and Multan's dry heat burns through top notes faster but the drydown can sit closer to the skin. If you are in Karachi, err lighter still.

What we would wear to the office in summer

The safe all-rounder

Aqugio, our impression of Armani Acqua di Gio. Crisp citrus and marine notes, inoffensive in the best sense, and the profile that office fragrance advice has recommended for thirty years for good reason.

The clean and green option

Silvyque, our impression of Creed Silver Mountain Water. Green tea and blackcurrant over a soft musk. Quieter than most, and the closest thing to a fragrance that reads as "well-groomed" rather than "wearing cologne".

The citrus blast

Pacifyque, our impression of Louis Vuitton Pacific Chill. Lemon, lime and mint with basil. Genuinely cooling, and the most summer-specific fragrance we make.

The professional standard

Blueshell, our impression of Bleu de Chanel. Citrus and mint over cedar and incense. Slightly more presence than the others, so use it sparingly, but it is the most "business" of the group.

The budget classic

Frigus, our impression of Davidoff Cool Water. Marine, mint and lavender. It has been the default fresh fragrance in this region for decades because it works.

For women

Cristyque, our impression of Versace Bright Crystal, is light, fruity-floral and office-appropriate. Aiko, our impression of SJP Lovely, is softer and more musky if you prefer something that stays close.

Shared between colleagues

Unio, our impression of CK One, is the original unisex office fragrance. Clean citrus and musk, and about as safe as fragrance gets.

What to avoid at work in summer

Leave the oud, the heavy ambers and the sweet gourmands for evenings and winter. Omnod and Baroj are two of our best fragrances, and both are the wrong choice for a 2pm meeting in July. Save them for a wedding.
