Sauvage is the fragrance most Pakistani men ask for by name. It is also one of the most counterfeited bottles in the country. Here is what it actually costs, why, and what your options are.
What does Dior Sauvage cost in Pakistan?
At established Pakistani retailers, 100ml of Sauvage Eau de Parfum currently sits between PKR 55,000 and PKR 65,000. The Eau de Toilette runs slightly lower. Prices move with the exchange rate and import duty, so treat any figure as a range rather than a fixed number.
What are you actually paying for?
Roughly speaking, the bottle's cost breaks into four parts: the fragrance oil itself, the packaging and bottle, Dior's marketing and brand margin, and Pakistani import duty plus sales tax.
The fragrance oil is the smallest of those. That is not a criticism of Dior, it is how the entire luxury fragrance industry works, and it applies equally to Chanel, Tom Ford and Creed. But it is worth understanding, because it explains how an independently made fragrance can smell similar at a fraction of the price without cutting corners on the juice.
Avoiding fake Sauvage
Sauvage's popularity makes it a prime counterfeit target in Pakistan. Warning signs:
- Prices well below PKR 40,000 for a sealed 100ml bottle
- Missing or mismatched batch codes between box and bottle
- Sloppy print, uneven cellophane, a cap that does not sit flush
- Sellers with no physical address and no returns policy
Our guide on spotting counterfeits goes into detail, including the important distinction between a fake and a legitimate impression.
What else smells like Sauvage?
Sauvage's signature is bergamot and Sichuan pepper over a large dose of ambroxan. That ambroxan character is what makes it so recognisable, and it is also why it is one of the more achievable profiles to interpret.
Our impression is Sauvox, built on the same peppery-ambroxan structure, at PKR 2,499 for 50ml parfum. It is our own composition under our own name, not a copy of Dior's packaging.
If you like Sauvage but want something less ubiquitous, two other Dior profiles are worth knowing:
- Fahr, our impression of Dior Fahrenheit, the violet-and-leather classic
- Intensiu, our impression of Dior Homme Intense, powdery iris and far more formal
All of them are on our Dior Impressions page.
Original or impression?
If you want Dior's exact composition, the packaging and the brand, buy the original. Nothing else delivers that.
If what you want is the smell, worn daily, without a PKR 60,000 bottle in the cupboard, an impression is a reasonable choice. We are honest about the limits of that in our piece on what impressions can and cannot replicate.
